Seems I have a few things in common with AZviaTx--we're both 49 facing the big 5-0! AZviaTx once lived in the Twin Cities, but now calls Arizona home. At this point in the winter, I would love calling Arizona home too. AZviaTx is fairly new to blogging and is exploring the world of altered art. You can give her a little blog love here.

I enjoyed the magic carpet ride--I especially enjoyed finding some new blogs to follow. And I appreciate all the new folks who decided to follow me! I hope you will all visit often!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

I decided to make something a little special for my valentine...

  

On an 18x24 board I created this very personal mixed media piece. I learned a lot doing it...and now I want to make a few more. Some of the special things I did include:  1) using a paper valentine doily to paint the design on the sides. I really liked how that turned out. 2) Using personal mementos from our life together (ticket stubs, pics...) to create the "patchwork" dress. You don't see much of it after I finished painting, but enough is there to make it a great keepsake...which got me thinking--these would be great pieces to create as custom works for anniversaries, weddings, valentines... 3) I added this special heart (see below) which could also be customized.

  

I'm sneaking away for a few days with my honey...to our favorite b&b. I will try to remember to pull the name of the giveaway winner, but if not, I will post on Wednesday!

One World One Heart

WHAT IS ONE WORLD ONE HEART?

  This event was created by a fellow blogger in 2007. The original idea behind this giveaway event was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. The premise was to close the gap of the blog community and enable us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way. 2007 had roughly 85-90 participants and many connections were made because of it......friendships that are still going strong. In 2009 there were 911 participants!

This year I thought I'd give it a whirl! Who doesn't love the chance to win a giveaway and meet new friends from around the globe?

So here's the scoop:  In order to enter this giveaway, you simply need to enter a comment on this blog post! Please leave me your email address so I know how to reach you if you should win. If you are a fellow blogger, please leave a link to your blog. I'd like to come visit as well!  Only one entry per person and your entry must be completed no later than Valentine's Day, February 14th. The winner will be announced February 15th!

What will you win, you ask! I decided in the spirit of Valentine's, to give away this little 8x8 heart painting. (This is admittedly a lousy pic--I will take a new one in a day or two when I have some natural light to take a better pic) I will also send along a pack of my cards featuring some of my artwork.

I covered the heart with molding paste and then pressed bubble wrap into the paste to create the texture on the heart. It gives it a very interesting look and was fun to create!
